Haircuts and Free Tickets! :)

From this:

I like him with longer hair, but it was getting so hard to keep it laying straight!! :P And women think they are the only ones with "hair troubles". :)

My dear hubby has a friend who got them free tickets to the Nascar Race in Talladega this weekend. He was pumped and worked extra hard to get his school work done on time....sounds like a school age child, right?? ;) They left early this morning and are coming back L.A.T.E. tomorrow night.
Talked to them today via Skype. It was a cold, rainy day! They set up camp to block the winds and rain. Talked to Dan tonight and he said it was still cold, but the sun had come out before dark and it was clear. Looks like a great day for a race tomorrow! :)

Their camp site....

I know they are having a great time and I pray that this time away is a refresher for Dan....spiritually and mentally!! :)

Us husband-less ladies got together for lunch and had fun just visiting. The kids and I went to Tallahassee tonight. I thought since it's Halloween that the stores would be emptier since people would be out trick or treating and so on. WELL....I thunk wrong!! They were trick or treating in the mall!! :P Needless to say, we didn't stick around real long. We found Michaels and Bed, Bath and Beyond to browse and dream in! :) Then we stopped for DQ ice cream on the way home...a treat I miss since we moved south (there aren't any closer than an hour to us!!)
Now it is time to get my weary bones in bed. I am looking forward to an extra hour of sleep, but if I don't soon get to bed, it defeats the purpose!! :P

Friday, my sister Chris and her family came for a short weekend visit! The guys decided we should take in a football game at our local highschool that night. The Tigers were playing the Port St. Joe Sharks....and the Tigers won, but they had us holding our breath for awhile!! :)

Here come the Blountstown Tigers....

Everyone must have been intent on the game.... :)

Cody and Danny were yelling, "Skin those sharks!!" :) But their yelling was nothing compared to the lady on the back of our side of the bleachers! I wouldn't be surprised if she lost her voice....but you can count on her being in that same spot at every game, yelling and blowing her bullhorn! Next time remind me to wear ear plugs!! LOL!

This is the middle school football team...looks like we got some big players coming on next year!! Some of those guys are tall!! :)

Dan with two of his favorite nieces!! :)

Saturday after lunch Chris and I took the kids to the park to burn some energy! :)

Check out that eye!! :)

Nicole....sporting a new look with her contacts!! :)

We played a quick game of kickball....
Watch out Danny....Mom's about to get you out! Only if she can throw straight! LOL!

Tamara on base!!

~Sisters~ :)
Carmen

While we were at the park, the men got back from a quick trip to Panama City Beach to pick up a piano we bought from Dan's boss' church. Many hands to help unload!! :)
Tyler, are you bossing your sister? *gasp* ;)

Checking out its insides....

It's new home...

Watching more football..... :P

Princess Tamara with her royal cat....Orchid Seraphina. :)

The Martin's....Dwayne and Chris, Nicole (17), Tyler (16), Carmen (13), Heidi (10) and Cody (7).
Thanks for coming and spending a few hours with us...we enjoyed it!!! :)

What a full, but good week we had! I will post pics of some of the events we had going on......

The beginning of the week, three wonderful people from IN were down at Gulf CI ministering to the inmates. We invited them to come for supper on Tuesday night.
Jane & John Sullivan and Dan Utz.

Wednesday morning the kids and I woke up at 4:30 AM and drove up to my sister in GA to join them for a day at the Sunbelt Ag Expo. It is a yearly event that Danny and Tamara love to go to.
This was the group of kids who went...
Back: Heidi (niece), Carmen (niece), Tyler (nephew), Jordan, and Nicole (niece)
Front: Danny, Cody (nephew), Tamara, Allison (??), Kara, and Adrienne.

Soon after we got there, we got to watch this hot air balloon take off....

It flew right over top of us... :)

Cute alpaca's :)

A huge bull!! Tyler says it is a Romagnola that weighs about 2,300 lbs.!! :O

Cody, Danny and Tamara....excited to spend a day together! :)

Watching them milk a cow...

Fun stuff....shaped balloons!!

We also watched a "cow-herding" competition. This young bull was very feisty! He was giving this dog a run for the money!!

It was a good, but long day till we got back home at supper time. :)

Birthday Party

Saturday evening we were invited to Dave & Jill Smith's to celebrate Hope Divine's 3rd birthday.

The birthday girl...

The boys were way outnumbered (like 3 to 12 or something like that!!) and spent most of their time outside...
~ Roy & Kay Pickron ~

Playing hot potato...

Time for the cake!!! :)

Gifts followed, but none of my pics turned out too well! Either people got in the way right as I snapped them :) or someone had eyes shut. :P
An enjoyable end to a good day~ :)

Goat Day

Saturday was the 23rd?? annual Goat Day in Blountstown...it was a cold day, unlike most of the other years I can remember!! Usually it is SO hot!! We were thankful for some cooler temps!
At Goat Day you will see many vendor tents, games for kids, goats, pigs and this year chickens for some fun for the little kids....then cross the bridge in the woods to visit the Old-Time Pioneer Settlement. :)
One of the first booths we came to, they were producing a 3 minute video of your kids in the event that they ever disappear for some reason or another....you present this video to the police to help them find your child. They also gave us a DNA swab kit and some other info...hopefully it is something we never need to worry about!!
Danny getting ready to be recorded. I should watch the video, but I think they get them to answer questions about their age, grade of school, favorite foods, etc.

Tamara's turn....

Feeding the goats....

I wondered if this guy was going to be able to get his head back through the fence. It looked like his horns were going to catch, but I guess they are smart enough!! :)

A curious goat that was left in a trailer...he kept standing up to watch the action. :) Poor guy!

Lunch...chicken on a stick and curly fries. Lots of yummy greasy food! :P

After lunch we headed through the woods to the Pioneer Settlement.

Cranking corn...after they shell all the kernels off, they got to stick a feather in the end, turning them into the perfect missile!! I don't know if this was something pioneer kids played with!??

This lady was telling us all about butchering hogs. And how they ate pretty much every part of the hogs! :P You could help yourself to pork cracklin's (skin) here.

Inside one of the old houses. After I took this picture, a lady who worked there came in and asked Dan to add some wood to the fire. The small window behind Dans head opened to a stack of wood outside.

These fine ladies were serving home-churned butter on crackers. (the lady on the right is Leah Smith) :)

Tamara posing on the porch of the log home above.

In the blacksmith's shop....

Homemade Ice Cream to end the day. Although hot chocolate would have been better on such a cold day!! :)

This year, neither of the kids wanted to enter the greased pig chase, so we didn't stick around for that. They also had a chicken chase for the smaller kids this year. I would have liked to see that, but we decided to leave since we were done seeing everything and we would have still had about an hour to wait.
Another Goat Day is history~
